Watermelon Tourmaline
This is indicolite, a blue variety of tourmaline. Tourmaline has lots of crazy colour variations. There is even a variety called watermelon tourmaline - because it is coloured like a watermelon!

colors: black, green, brown, red, blue, yellow, pink
Mohs hardness: 7-7.5
originally cam from the Singhalese word “turamali” which means “gem pebble” or “unknown gemstone of mixed colors” because it was so resistant to erosion that you would find them in gravel deposits and they come in such an abundant amount of colors (i have no idea which one is a closer translation). Also known as the state gem of Maine.
