mineralsandrocks: Tourmaline colors: black, green, brown, red, blue, yellow, pink Mohs hardness: 7-7.5 originally cam from the Singhalese word “turamali” which means “gem pebble” or “unknown gemstone of mixed colors” because it was so resistant to erosion that you would find them in gravel deposits and they come in such an abundant amount of colors (i have no idea which one is a closer translation). Also known as the state gem of Maine.
