Since posting the photo of Nyiragongo earlier today I’ve been seized by a bit of volcanic intrigue, and went looking for other stupendous photographs. Trust National Geographic to come up trumps again with this stunner.
It’s Mt Etna of course, on the island of Sicily. It’s been erupting frequently over the last few years, which is a familiar sight to the nearby towns in that region. This particular photo from last year shows just how close the volcano is to local population centres.
Really, REALLY beautiful.
